Zach and I are SO EXCITED to share our very special news with you all…we’re expecting our first baby!! We’ve been dreaming of starting a family since we started dating, and it’s so amazing that our dream is finally coming true. So, here’s the story about how we found out about baby Barrett!
I had a feeling that I was pregnant on April 19th. I woke up, and before I started my day, I had to take a test to see if my feeling was right. The test was negative. I was really sad seeing that negative test, because this was the first time I really felt pregnant. I’m sure most of you can relate, but I am guilty of medical googling. I started to research how early you can find out if you’re pregnant, and turns out, I was about two weeks too early to find out. I anxiously waited those two weeks to see if I was right, and as soon as those two weeks were up, I took another test. To my surprise (even though I had a feeling, I still couldn’t believe it!), the test was positive!!! Positive. This test was staring me in the face reading: “Pregnant.” I didn’t know what to do. I was speechless. Nervous. Excited. Amazed. Suddenly, I felt a rush of emotions.
There was a burning question on my mind as I read the words on the test–how am I going to tell Zach???
I am terrible at surprising Zach. I am the type of wife that tells her husband what he’s getting for his birthday before his birthday because I’m so excited for him to open it. But this was different. This news was going to change our lives and make our dreams come true. I couldn’t spoil this moment for him with my terrible secret keeping. I went about my day like normal, and I put together a plan. Zach had a discipleship meeting with one of the men from our church that evening, so I would be at the house alone. I went to Target and picked up some baby things, and came home to get a surprise ready for him.
I took another test to be sure, and the second test was positive too! Still in disbelief, I put on a pretty dress, and put the baby items I had purchased on the floor of the spare bedroom we had dreamed of being a nursery one day. When Zach came home, he came into the spare room looking for me. He looked at the ground, looked at me, looked at the ground, and back at me. He finally said, “seriously?” I nodded, and he came and squeezed me so tightly. We sat on the floor looking at the baby stuff and talking about the future.
Some of you are already in on this news, and well, that’s because I really am terrible at keeping a secret. When it comes to news this big and exciting, I don’t know how I kept it from social media this long. We are so excited to meet our sweet little baby Barrett soon. Currently, on June 25th, 2021, I am 12 weeks along, and my due date is January 3rd, 2022. We got an ultrasound this week where we saw our little one moving like the little worm he or she is. It was incredible. Praise the Lord for the precious gift that is this baby.
Congratulations to both of you!!!π
I had to wonder with the baby items if Zach thought it was triplets?!!! πΆπΆπΆ whew LOL
Congratulations to you, you will be wonderful parents. So excited for you two β€
