There are certain people in life who seem like they can do anything. They’re jack of all trades, reliable, kind, and they just add life and happiness everywhere they go. They’re people you look up to. And that is Sophie Taylor for me. She is a mom to several wonderful kids, she works in a couple different avenues, she serves her church endlessly, and she always makes time for and pours into others. I see Sophie and all that she accomplishes in life and the type of woman she is, and all I can say is, I want to be Sophie one day! If I could figure out half of her drive, ambition, resilience, positivity, and Christ-likeness, I would be better off. What a joy she is to everyone that knows her. Truly, to know her is to love her.
Avid readers of my blog might recognize Sophie. I’ve taken photos for her business, Taylor Design Studio, as well as for her immediate and extended family. I probably shouldn’t say this, but for Sophie, everyone will understand–she’s my favorite! Taking photos for her is always such a pleasure, and this event surpassed that usual joy.
For Sophie’s birthday, she wanted to serve her friends. She hosted a catered dinner where we sang hymns together, listened to the Gospel preached, played games, and each guest got to take home some of Sophie’s favorite things. She had a room set up where guests could grab a bag and fill it with various things she loves. Things like various art pens, snacks, beauty products, and fandom items. She even had a raffle! I happily left with a leather Lord of the Rings book set and the movies! Haha. You could say I had a great time professionally and personally. This birthday, while clearly centered around Sophie and the things she loves in life, was even more clearly focused not on Sophie. Her friends were served. And a huge spotlight was on Christ. For her birthday, she wanted her friends to hear about what the Lord has done for us and how the Lord has blessed her life. What. A. Birthday.
To Sophie, you already know I adore you. I hope I did your amazing birthday justice to all the details you so carefully planned. You are a treasure to everyone around you! Happy 40th, and may it be the best year yet. 🙂
